Victoria painter and sculptor Donna Eichel explores the archeology of spirit with a rich, organic palette and primeval surfaces. With derelict objects and structures as her catalysts, Donna uses tar, plaster and oil paint to create mindscapes with their own psychological or emotional geography. Described as “cave paintings from a distant past or possible future”, Donna's evocative art offers glimpses into the fascinating cycle of life, decay and reclamation.

Donna's work has been featured in distinguished public and private galleries throughout Canada, including Open Space Gallery in Victoria, BC, the University of Ottawa and Confederation Centre, Charlottetown, PEI.

Donna is presently preparing art for a selection of private commissions and is also building a body of paintings for an exhibition scheduled for the spring of 2011.

These works will present, along with her paint, aluminum and tar work, a selection of self contained light boxes featuring abstract paintings on Mylar.  A sound element will be incorporated in this body of work.
